I am very pleased to announce that a new District Commissioner has been appointed for Guildford East. Following our extensive search throughout the District we were able to narrow our selection process down to one final candidate who was duly proposed and put forward. I am proud to report that our candidate has now successfully passed through the necessary interviews with the County Commissioner and the appointments advisory panel.
As from the 1st August 2018 Matt Sarti has been appointed Guildford East District Commissioner.
Matt has been an active member of Scouting for the last ten years, having initially been appointed as Assistant Cub Scout leader at Ripley and subsequently progressing through to District Section Leader with Hungry Hill Explorer Unit.
Matt is very enthusiastic with regards to his new role and I am sure we shall be hearing from him shortly with regards to his future plans and his vision for the Guildford East District.
I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Matt to his new role and the executive committee look forward to providing him with all the support that he requires.
I would also like to thank Michael Eagle, our outgoing DC, for all his hard work and dedication. Mike has done an excellent job for us over the last seven years and we really do appreciate all of the hours that he has dedicated to the task. We all fully respect Mike for his decision to stand down and he has certainly earned his semi-retirement. I am pleased to note that Mike intends to remain active within Scouting as our SASU Secretary and I am sure that he will continue to offer help and advice to his new replacement.
